Yes, eel skin,! A by-product of food production in South Korea. Hard wearing, good looking and unbelievably soft.
Conger eels are raised on farms in South Korea where eels are a staple food and the skins are sold to Korean manufacturers. It’s a system that’s really no different to farming in the UK where we eat the meat and, instead of just throwing them away, we use the hides to make bags, shoes, belts, jackets and the like. This messenger bag is made of hundreds of skins all sewn together. Lift the flap and there's a full width drop pocket in front of the main compartment which in turn contains drop pockets for your mobile and pens and a zip pocket. There's another zip pocket across the back. The wide canvas shoulder strap is fully adjustable. I know you can't but you really have to touch this bag to understand how soft it is. Lighter than the average bag too. And NO it doesn't smell.
